Some video evidence of the Star Trek Beyond shoot at the Dubai International Financial Centre appears to have made its way onto the web.
Ruptly, the public access news footage archive arm of the Russian broadcaster Russia Today, has posted uncredited video footage on its YouTube account that claims to have captured shoot in early October. The two-minute clip, which appears to be shot from the top of a nearby building, doesn't appear to have been filmed while filming was actually taking place as many of the cast and extras around the site are holding cups of water or umbrellas to shade them from the sun.
Elsewhere, crew members can be seen giving directions to cast. About 40 seconds into the clip, a group of extras jog in unison away from the crashed spacecraft in what looks to be a rehearsal. Almost all the extras on set are wearing Star Fleet uniforms which, tied in with the large Star Fleet insignia on set that can be seen in our own exclusive photos from the set, lends further credence to the theory that this is some kind of Star Fleet base or perhaps even headquarters. The cast and crew of touched down in Dubai two weeks ago, with filming so far taking place in DIFC, Jumeirah Lakes Towers and at Dubai Studio City sound stages. The team were also rumoured to be filming at Meydan Racecourse. The Star Trek Beyond Dubai portion of the shoot is scheduled to wrap by Saturday October 17.
At a recent press conference in Dubai, Idris Elba revealed that the emirate was the final shooting location for the movie. Watch the video below.
