Trend: Handbag haul

Mad for Mulberry

The latest designs from British heritage handbag brand Mulberry take city-sleek to a whole new level. The label’s distinctive Bayswater bag is now offered in a slick black crocodile finishing, while the new Maple design features contemporary colour blocking with industrial matte silver stud accents.

The Bayswater bag costs Dh7,120 and the Maple bag costs Dh4,925; available at Mulberry stores in the UAE

Celebrity spotlight

Dubai-based designer Lilian Afshar woke up one morning early this month to a social media feed full of images of Kendall Jenner carrying a L’Afshar clutch model celebrating her 21st birthday in LA. The autumn/winter 2016 range from L’Afshar gives a mature, minimalist twist to her acrylic box clutches, while maintaining a peppy and certainly on-trend vibe. Our favourites are the pieces that juxtapose a creamy pastel pink with a grounded grey tone.

French focus

While the new collection of leather goods to drop at Carven includes some spectacular backpacks, we’re more keen on the brand’s Full Joy classic cross-body styles. Versatile and everlasting in terms of trend appeal, the bag is available in a range of new colours. Though the pastel pink option is sleek and feminine, our favourite features camel-coloured velvet calfskin and orange-lined straps.

Bags with bunnies

Hop along to your closest Kate Spade boutique to check out the New York label’s latest kitschy handbags. This season, there’s a focus on cute bunny rabbits – find cutesy rabbit ears, jewelled noses and gold whisker add-ons atop totes and cross-body styles. The most memorable piece from the collection would have to be the glittered magician hat design that shows a bunny’s ears peeking out from the top.

Sleek shapes

Bangkok-based luxury handbag label S’uvimol has launched its autumn/winter 2016 collection, which is inspired by the vibrant colours found on tropical Asian fruits. The Square F style from the collection has a timelessly elegant shape, ideal for both brunches and evening affairs. Crafted from exotic Thai skins, the bag is available in tones of cobalt blue, tangerine orange, rosy pink and black.

Cost Dh4,180, available at Bloomingdales, Dubai
