Dennis Sheehan, U2’s tour manager, was found dead early Wednesday morning in a hotel room in West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip. His death occurred just hours after the start of a five-night stint in Los Angeles during the band’s Innocence and Excellence tour.

Bono posted a statement about Sheehan’s death on the band’s website: “We’ve lost a family member, We’re still taking it in. He wasn’t just a legend in the music business, he was a legend in our band. He is irreplaceable.”

First responders arrived on the scene at 5:30am after getting calls about a man in cardiac arrest. Sheehan, age 68, was pronounced dead at the scene. The tour will continue as planned as a tribute to Sheehan, who was the band’s tour manager for more than 30 years.
