Tom Jones and The Human League both cancel April UAE concerts

Vintage crooner Tom Jones announced the cancellation of his upcoming concert just minutes after the news that electro-pop band The Human League have also pulled the plug on their UAE gig.

The Welsh singing icon was set to perform at Abu Dhabi’s Du Forum on April 15, but on Sunday, promoters Flash stated the concert had been axed.

The announcement came within minutes of news that ageing electro-pop band The Human League have also pulled the plug on their UAE gig – set for the very same night, April 15, at Dubai Media Amphitheatre.

Jones has cancelled a string of upcoming shows, due to the illness of a close family member, said promoters.

‘‘Due to serious illness in his immediate family, Tom Jones regretfully has to cancel his performance at the du Forum, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi scheduled for Friday April 15,” read a statement from Flash.

“He extends his deepest apologies to both the fans and organisers, who he is most sad to disappoint. There are no further details at this time.”

Promoters for The Human League show, presented under the banner Flashback, said work is underway to schedule a new date.

“Due to circumstances outside the organisers control, the concert will not be happening on April 15,” read an email from a representative of the promoters.

Tickets for Jones’s concert purchased through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded within ten working days.
