The Lebanese designer Vick Vanlian is bringing his wacky products to the UAE, opening an office in Dubai Design District (D3). Here are some of his more outlandish creations.
1. A leggy look
The BFF Console is part of the Private Session collection, a nod to Vanlian’s love of women’s fashion. The pop-art-inspired range pays homage to Jeff Koons and Takashi Murakami, and it’s a whole lot of fun. • BFF Console, Dh12,856
2. Light up the room
Also part of Private Session is Foxy Lady, a Jessica Rabbit-esque floor lamp that’s bound to be a conversation starter. • Foxy Lady lamp, Dh22,038
3. Recycled ride
The three-seater Ride Me sofa is part of Vanlian’s Re-fuse collection, which gives old, everyday items a new lease of life. In this instance, Vanlian combines old bicycle wheels and pedals to create an altogether unexpected seating option. • Ride Me sofa, Dh25,711
4. Take a coffee break
The Globe Trekker collection captures the old-school glamour of travel with furniture pieces constructed out of vintage leather trunks. Each piece is branded with a pattern made from VV logos. • Globe Trekker coffee table, Dh9,183, and trunk, Dh14,325
5. Industrial revolution
Another highlight of the Re-fuse collection is the Pipe lamp, a distinctly industrial-looking light source made from old industrial pipes, topped with a tap. • Pipe Lamp, Dh9,183
