The Beach shopping and entertainment complex in Dubai has launch a new competition for amateur film makers. The lucky winner will receive an all-expense-paid trip to New York’s Tribeca Film Festival in April.

The competition will kick off with a filmmaking workshop hosted by Emirati YouTube sensation Taim Al Falasi at Reel Cinemas, The Beach on February 6. It is open to the public, and will accommodate up to 110 entrants from 10am to 2pm, including a networking lunch from 1pm.

Registrations for the workshop are open until February 4. Email inspiringencounters@thebeach.ae for more details.

Following the workshop, aspiring Spielbergs and Hitchcocks will have a month to create and submit their films for the competition. Entries must be uploaded on www.thebeach.ae/competitions by March 6.

The entries will be judged by Shweta Dembla, the brains behind the Dubai in a Frame vlog, and the winners will be announced on Monday March 14.

The best film winner will walk away with a four-night trip to New York City, including flights and accommodation, as well as tickets to the acclaimed Tribeca Film Festival.

Other prizes include handy equipment including iPhones and Go Pro cameras.
