Shah Rukh Khan gave his fans a special Eid gift yesterday – he posted a photograph on Twitter (@iamsrk) of himself holding his son AbRam, who is dressed in white shorts and a tee and staring solemnly at the camera, a toy in each hand. The caption says: "Eid Al Adha Mubarak to everyone. May all have the happiness that life has to offer. The littlest one wishes you too."
This is the first official photograph released since AbRam, Khan’s third child, was born via surrogacy on May 27, 2013. The birth was surrounded in controversy after reports emerged that the actor and his wife, Gauri, had tests done to determine the gender of the unborn baby.
The couple denied the claims, and Khan issued a statement in July last year to clear the air: “The baby was born much before the speculations of ‘sex determination’ and other ‘issues’ pertaining to the same were being raised in the media by some organisations,” he said. “Suffice to say his coming home puts to rest completely false and at times insensitive claims of sex determination and alleged illegalities.”
Since then, Khan has kept AbRam out of the spotlight, going on record to say that he would do anything to defend his family’s privacy. Khan and his wife Gauri have two other children, Aryan, 17, and Suhana, 14, who are often seen in public with their parents, notably at Indian Premier League cricket games played by Kolkata Knight Riders, the team Khan co-owns.
