The actor Ranbir Kapoor, who is in talks to own the Mumbai franchise in the inaugural football Indian Super League (ISL), said he was looking to translating his passion for the sport into development activity. Kapoor will co-own the Mumbai franchise of the eight-city tournament that will be played from September until November. "It is a moment of great pride for me to be a part of the Indian Super League and to represent the vibrant city of Mumbai. Marilyn Monroe earrings auctioned for $185,000
A pair of rhinestone earrings Marilyn Monroe wore to a 1955 Hollywood film premiere have sold at auction for US$185,000 (Dh680,000). Julien's Auctions said in a statement on Sunday that the actress wore the jewellery when she attended the opening of The Rose Tattoo. Monroe did not appear in the film based on a Tennessee Williams play. The price included a 20 per cent commission for the auction house. The buyer was a foreign collector. Julien's does not release the names of buyers. The sale was part of a two-day auction of Hollywood memorabilia on Friday and Saturday at Julien's Beverly Hills gallery. A lighter used by Humphrey Bogart sold for $19,200, and a 1986 Pontiac Firebird owned by David Hasselhoff was purchased for $152,600. – AP
