Have we reached saturation point for Kardashian coverage? Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton thinks so – he has announced a “No Kardashians for a Week” campaign, saying he would not be writing anything about the high-profile clan between August 17 and 21.
"Do you ever feel like there's just too much Kardashian news out there?" he wrote on Twitter. "Well if so, then you're in luck, because PerezHilton.com will not be posting a single story about the Keeping Up With the Kardashians family for an entire week."
Instead, he said, he will publish stories about inspiring women from around the world. He urged other media outlets and websites to follow suit. Kim Kardashian responded by unfollowing him on Twitter, he said.
Hilton's campaign comes after an on-air rant on Friday by US TV news anchor John Brown, who stormed off the set of Good Day Orlando during a live broadcast rather than report the fact that Kylie Jenner has a new pet rabbit. "I don't care about this family. I'm sick of this family. It's a non-story," he said.
It’s shaping up to be a bad week for Kim – the US Food and Drug Administration has said her social-media posts violate drug-promotion rules. The reality star, who is pregnant with her second child, recently began promoting a prescription pill that treats morning sickness. But FDA regulators say the posts violate the law because they don’t mention potentially dangerous side effects and drug interactions.
