Bags by Sofia Al Asfoor

Up-and-coming Bahraini designer Sofia Al Asfoor’s calf-leather, lambskin-lined bags, known as The Shield, top our list. There’s The Classic Shield, The Exotic Shield and The Bespoke Shield, all distinguished by their 3D-effect pyramid design. Available in a variety of colours and sizes. We are particularly enamoured by the boxy black Classic Shield (Dh17,200).

Diptyque candles

At Dh240 for a 190g candle, these French-made candles are definitely an indulgence. Individually hand-poured and synthetics-free, they burn for an average of 50 to 60 hours and boast natural fragrances.

This collection of candles is priced at Dh520 for the special edition forest collection of three small candles: sapin, oliban and liquidambar.

Local couture

Check out children’s apparel made from foam fabric by Dubai-based designer Essa, and the Neon Kids collection by local artist and designer Mona Fares. We love the ruffles on her high-low skirts (Dh620) and Essa’s pink foam jacket (Dh755).

Théophile & Patachou

The Belgian brand’s furniture sets, with accessories made from natural materials, are reportedly sought after by celebrities including Angelina Jolie and the Belgian royal family. But our favourite find is T&P’s new line of jewellery by Parisian designer Vivian Dutch. We love the mum-and-daughter matching bracelets, available in white gold (Dh2,250 for the pair), and silver and mother-of-pearl (Dh600).
