The host of The Ellen Degeneres Show poked fun at fashion designer and reality star Nicole Richie as she described her trip to Dubai in January.

Richie, who trained falcons and bought fabrics in a souq during her trip, also showed a picture of her and friends riding camels in the desert.

“They’re like dogs, happy, very friendly,” she said.

“They’re not like dogs,” Degeneres responded, to audience laughter.

Then Richie described the experience of being on a camel as it sits down: “When they go down, it’s a very steep slope. They only do two legs at a time.”

“Well it would be terrible if they did all four legs at the same time,” joked Degeneres.

The 33-year-old star of VH1's Candidly Nicole reality show, who is the adopted daughter of UAE favourite, singer Lionel Richie, made the trip to showcase her fashion line as part of the Dubai Shopping Festival.

Richie said Dubai has earned its reputation for having the “biggest, tallest” of everything.

“Everything has ‘in the world’ after it, it’s just so grand,” she said.

In the show, which first screened earlier this year, Degeneres told Richie she was excited about her own, then-upcoming visit to Dubai. The talk show host and her partner, the Scandal actress Portia De Rossi, spent time in the emirate in May, taking in a show at The Act Dubai and posting pictures to social media.

As part of promotions for Furious 7, part of which was shot in Abu Dhabi, the film's star Vin Diesel and DeGeneres gave an audience member an all-expenses-paid, two-week trip tothe capital. The winner, Alex Baltazar, plans to make the trip in January.
