New programme to support aspiring young authors in the region

Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development has promised to support a new generation of authors in many different fields with a programme called Preparing Young Authors, launched under the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development.

Writers of poetry, novels, short stories, personal experiences and theatrical texts will fall under the new programme and it will also enhance the value of reading as a necessary intellectual tool, thus enriching the Emirati culture in general, he said.

The programme will be launched during the Knowledge Forum organised by the Ministry in the second half of April.

Sheikh Nahyan added that the programme, consisting of training and workshops is open to both school children and university students across the UAE and is accessible thorugh the Ministry’s cultural centres, website, social media and by filling out a participation form at educational centres.

He concluded that the launch of the Preparing Young Authors programme reflects the Ministry’s implementation of the National Reading Law in accordance with the directives of the late founding father Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
