Line up unveiled for next season of 7th Art movie screenings

Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority has announced the line up for the next season of 7th Art movie screenings in the city, curated by former Abu Dhabi Film Festival chief Peter Scarlett.

The season, which aims to bring some of the greatest movies of all time to audiences in the capital, will feature screenings at Manarat al Saadiyat, alternating on a bi-weekly basis on Sunday at 7.30pm with the ongoing documentary series The Story of Film. Scarlett will host a Q+A after each screening.

The series will also expand to take movies to the people with the new 7th Art Al Fresco season at outdoor screens around the city. All Al Fresco screenings begin at 6.30pm.

• Sunday March 8: Citizen Kane, Orson Welles' 1941 classic

• Sunday April 3: Vertigo, Alfred Hitchcock's haunting 1958 thriller

• Sunday May 1: 2001: A Space Odyssey, Stanley Kubrick's 1968 sci-fi meditation

Al Fresco

• Saturday February 20, Mushrif Park: Theeb, Jordanian/British drama currently nominated for this year's best foreign language Oscar

• Saturday, March 12, Al Fanr Restaurant, Manarat Al Saadiyat: The Princess Bride, Rob Reiner's beloved fairy tale

Saturday April 2, Corniche: PK, the top-grossing Indian film of all time, with Aamir Khan

Saturday April 23, Corniche: The Kid, Charlie Chaplin's evergreen comedy

All screenings are free, and subtitled in English or Arabic as appropriate.
