Lebanese and Egyptian filmmakers heading to Venice

Several weeks ago, we brought you the story of a new film competition entitled Your Film Festival in which filmmakers submitted shorts which were posted on YouTube for the ‘YouTube community’ to vote on, with the winner receiving a US$500,000 grant to work with Sir Ridley Scott and Michael Fassbender. Yes, you remember, the one with two regional films competing among the 50 selected to go through to the final round, in the Venice Film Festival later this month.

Well, you'll never guess (you might), but both Super.Full. by Lebanese filmmaker Niam Itani and This Time, by Egyptian Ramy El Gabry have only gone and made it into the final 10.

Both will now travel to the Venice Film Festival, and the films will screen in a special selection on Sunday, September 2.
