Jon Stewart made an unexpected return to The Daily Show, the American satirical news show he presented for 16 years, appearing alongside his replacement, South African comedian Trevor Noah.
Noah had started a seemingly planned monologue when he was drowned out by the roar of the audience as a bearded, T-shirt-wearing Stewart, seemingly revelling in the sartorial freedom of his new-found unemployment strolled onstage. (See video below)
Stewart returned to present a piece about the Zadroga Act, which provided health care for emergency workers who suffer health problems as a result of working at New York’s World Trade Centre after the September 11 attacks, until it expired on October 1.
Stewart attempted to reassemble the panel of four emergency workers he spoke to on the show in 2010. However, only fireman Kenny Specht could return, as two of the panelists were too sick to appear and one had died. – The National staff

Dirty Dancing to get TV remake
US TV network ABC has ordered a three-hour musical remake of the cult 1980s romantic drama Dirty Dancing, which starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.
This time around, Abigail Breslin (Scream Queens, Little Miss Sunshine) will play Baby, described an "an innocent young woman in the early 1960s who holidays with her affluent parents and siblings in the Catskill Mountains and falls for the resort's working-class dance instructor".
It's not the first attempt to capitalise on the popularity of the original movie – but a 1988 TV series starring Patrick Cassidy and Melora Hardin, and a dismal 2004 sequel/remake failed to impress. – The National staff
Katie Price calls in ghostbusters
British reality-TV star and former model Katie Price has asked for help from ghostbusters as she believes her farmhouse in Surrey is haunted.
The 37-year-old hired a medium to banish restless spirits from her farmhouse after her son Junior, 10, woke up screaming and said he saw a spooky figure lurking outside his bedroom window.
"We had it cleared because it was haunted and we had to get rid of the ghosts," Price told OK! Magazine. "On one occasion I heard Junior screaming, 'Help, help,' in the middle of the night and I went up to see him and he said he'd seen someone outside. I don't know what that was, but Junior was very scared. I called the people who lived here before, who had been here for 25 years, and asked if anyone had died here, and they said, 'Not in the last 18 years.'" – The National staff
