Nestled amidst lush green meadows, and pine, spruce and aspen forests, with spectacular views of the San Juan mountain range in Colorado, is a 298-acre estate belonging to Tom Cruise.

Currently on the market for US$59 million, the Telluride property has a star-studded history. It was purchased by Cruise when he was married to Nicole Kidman, and the Hollywood actor played a key role in designing the home, working alongside the prestigious architects James Hardy and Larry Yaw. It was also the setting for the famous 2006 Vanity Fair shoot where Cruise and Katie Holmes shared the first photos of their baby daughter, Suri, with the public.

The 10,000-square-foot, four-bedroom, six-bathroom lodge features a library, gym, recreation room, office and gourmet kitchen. There’s also a 1,600-square-foot guesthouse with three bedrooms nearby. From the main gate, a one-mile-long driveway, sandwiched between a canopy of grand forestry, leads up to the rustic home. The property also houses a basketball and tennis court, which can be transformed into an ice hockey rink, as well as private trails for jogs or scenic walks.

The home is as charming as you might imagine a celebrity-owned mountain lodge to be. Interiors feature floor-to-ceiling wood panels, bleached cedar timbers and dovetail joinery. A dramatic stone fireplace sits in the corner of the living room, and walls consist of oversized windows so that the picturesque vistas can be seen from every angle. The house also has multiple porches and balconies.

The surrounding town of Telluride, which was a silver-mining hotspot in the 19th century, is a year-round destination known for its ski slopes and summertime film, food and music festivals.
