It’s always a good idea to spruce up walls with personalised pieces, particularly when fixing up a kid’s room. You could buy a run-of-the-mill poster featuring their favourite Disney characters or spend tons of cash on fancy wallpaper. Why not make creating art an activity that you and your kids can do together?
The crayon monogram wall hanging is easy to make and requires few materials. Gather a box of crayons, tacky glue, white card, sandpaper and a shadow box picture frame.
In Word, create a document on the computer that’s the same size as the frame. Type your child’s first initial in the middle of the page – the font should be large and the colour light grey – and place a light border around the letter. Try a practice run before you print it onto the card itself.
Once printed, cut the card along the lines of the border. Following this, begin to lay out – and break – the crayons to fit around the letter. If the crayon edges become uneven, use the sandpaper to file them down. Once they fit properly, glue the crayons down on the card and leave them to dry overnight. You can then frame it and hang it the following day.
