Celebrities including Orlando Bloom and Liam Payne took to social media to voice their fears for residents and firefighters in California as a wildfire spread fast through the area, leaving 23 dead.
The fire became California's third deadliest since record-keeping began, with the death toll rising by 14 on Saturday. It was dangerously close to Malibu, where many of Hollywood's biggest names reside. All 13,000 residents of Malibu, 30 miles west of central Los Angeles, were told to leave their homes on Friday.
Former One Direction star Liam Payne said he was about to lose his house, in an emotional message to his 32 million followers on Twitter.
"My heart goes out to everyone caught in the fires please stay safe and don't take unnecessary risks. I think I'm about to lose my house and its memories ... even worse tragically people have died thoughts and prayers with everyone it's been a tough day let's hope it gets better."
Pop legend Cher was another to voice concern for her home and for people in the Malibu area. She said she has had a house in Malibu since 1972 and that her friends' houses had been hit by the fires.
Actor Orlando Bloom shared a terrifying image on his Instagram account of the fire close to his home.
"This is my street as of two hours ago praying for the safety of all my Malibu fam, grateful to our brave firefighters please stay safe," he wrote.
Kim Kardashian West said her home in Hidden Hills was affected, but that the fire had been contained.

Actress Alyssa Milano initially tweeted that she was waiting to hear the fate of her home because she wasn't allowed to access the area. She later confirmed that her property was still standing and that she was off to provide support to the firefighters.
Lady Gaga described how she was sitting "wondering if my home will burst into flames". She followed up with more tweets on how grateful she was for the support of the emergency services.
Authorities in southern California said about 200,000 people had been issued with evacuation orders, as wind fanned the fires out of control.
The film set of the popular TV series Westworld was burnt down in what had been named the "Woolsey Fire" at Paramount Ranch.
The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area confirmed the damage on Twitter: "We are sorry to share the news that the #WoolseyFire has burnt Western Town at #ParamountRanch in Agoura. We do not have any details or photos, but it is our understanding that the structures have burnt. This area is an active part of the incident and we cannot access it."
United States President Donald Trump meanwhile blamed "gross mismanagement of forests" for the wildfires.
"There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor," he wrote on Twitter.
