Isn't it annoying when there's someone behind you in the cinema who insists on kicking your chair? Well that was the experience of a whole lot of people watching films at the Gulf Film Festival at about 2.50pm UAE time.

During the screening of Grand Marriage, the Saudi-made documentary about the two-week long weddings that take place on the island of Comoros, it appeared that there was an entire cinema full of annoying people kicking the chairs in front. Naturally, everyone was too polite and engrossed in the film to kick up a fuss, or even tut loudly.

It was only afterwards, when the texts, tweets and news reports started coming through, that everyone discovered what had really happened.
