Gig news: Killers tribute band, Thomas Gandey EP launch and Bob Marley’s 70th birthday

Music fans still kicking themselves for missing out on The Killers sell out Sandance concert back in October 2013 may be relieved to hear a top tribute band is coming to the UAE.

Claiming to be the only tribute to have performed live “with” the original band, the fantastically named The Fillers have been going since 2006 and claim to hail from the UK’s “very own Las Vegas”, Bury St Edmunds. Catch them at Dubai’s Music Room on February 27.

Local house connoisseurs Audio Tonic are celebrating a top start to 2015, with two major new releases on their homegrown record label.

On Friday January 30 the AT team welcome UK tech house heavyweight Thomas Gandey (AKA Cagedbaby) to their home at 360° to celebrate the release of a new EP, while on February 27 rising German star Niko Schwind makes a Middle Eastern debut to mark a new track on the UAE label.

On February 6 music legend Bob Marley would have turned 70 years old.

To celebrate that milestone the promoters behind the relaxed Reggae Beachfest parties in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi are welcoming charismatic Jamaican dancehall name Mr Vegas for a show at XL Beach Club, a day later on Saturday February 7.

Al fresco UAE super-club Blue Marlin has unveiled an unrivalled series of international guest DJs for February.

Head to the Ghantoot spot on February 6 to hear Behrouz, Russ Yallop and Jackmaster all spin.

A week later on February 13 there’s a similar triple bill with Stacey Pullen, Ezikile and Gas all booked, while February 20 will see DJ Le Roi and Adriatique guest.
