From sketch to stage: Karl Lagerfeld creates bespoke outfit for Selena Gomez

Karl Lagerfeld has custom-designed an outfit for American singer Selena Gomez’s Revival world tour.

As these exclusive behind-the-scenes images show, the couture creation features more than 12,000 pearls and glittering sequins. The outfit consists of a silk muslin dress paired with black vinyl leggings, and is accessorised with embellished blue fingerless gloves. It is textured with various prints and embellishments, and finished with beads. It took over 200 hours to create and was designed at the Paris atelier of Lagerfeld’s namesake fashion brand.

“I love her music – it’s very strong,” said Karl Lagerfeld of the pop music sensation. “I am both happy and proud that I could help her to look great on her Revival Tour.”

“I put on the actual costume when it was done and I was just completely blown away,” said Gomez.

Selena Gomez’s Revival tour opened on May 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will include 110 shows worldwide over the coming eight months.
