Many moons ago, there was a computer game on the lips of every science fiction fan. Elite, which was first published in 1984, was a landmark title that helped shape the space flight simulation genre, an open-ended masterpiece that paved the way for the likes of Second Life and World of Warcraft.
Now Frontier Developments is looking to raise £1.25 million (Dh7.4m) on Kickstarter to develop Elite: Dangerous, which will bring all the elements of the first title kicking and screaming into the 21st century, while adding extras such as online options (the internet wasn't around back then).
For £20 (Dh118) you can get a digital copy of the game when it comes out. For £5,000 you can have a star in the game named after you.
