Drake & Scull International (DSI) has announced a Dh100 million ($27 million) deal to work on a "private residential facility" in Doha, making good on its promise to expand in Qatar.
The mechanical, electrical and plumbing contract was completed through DSI's subsidiary, Drake & Scull International Qatar (DSQ), which the company purchased last year.
"We have reinforced the management team in DSQ and upgraded our operational capabilities to meet the rising demand for the planned 2022 World Cup associated infrastructure, commercial and residential developments," chief executive Khaldoun Tabari said in a statement. "We see a progressive increase in tendering activities and we expect to witness an increased impetus in project announcements in the market."
Dubai-based DSI has targeted Qatar and Saudi Arabia as key growth markets. Earlier this year Mr Tabari said the company was bidding on more than $1 billion worth of contracts in Qatar.
