Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant are set to star in the Netflix comedy series Santa Clarita Diet. According to Variety, the pair will play husband and wife real estate agents Joel and Sheila, who are leading discontented lives in L.A.'s suburbs. Barrymore's character then goes through a "drastic change" that alters the course of their lives. The show is set to air next year with both stars on board as executive producers. Adele will headline Glastonbury

During a live concert at London’s O2 arena, singer songwriter Adele announced that she will be headlining the Pyramid Stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in England. “Who’s going to Glastonbury this year?” she asked. “See you there. I’ll be there. I’ll be headlining on the Saturday night this year.” Adele’s latest album, 25, has sold more than 19 million copies worldwide and is currently number one in the UK albums chart. “I’ve had to keep that secret for years” the star added later at the concert. Glastonbury later confirmed the news on Twitter. Adele now joins Muse and Coldplay at the top of the bill when the festival takes place in June.— The National staff.

Sanjay Dutt has no regrets

Actor Sanjay Dutt, who was released from the Yerwada prison in Pune last month, says he has no regrets. ”I have taken it [prison sentence] in a positive way but I learnt from it. I learnt the law of the land. I learnt not to be brash, I learnt not to think from the heart but from the mind,” he said at the India Today Conclave conference in Delhi. He went on to conclude that he wanted to put everything behind him and go on to make great cinema. “I just want to be Sanjay. I don’t want to be Munnabhai or Khalnayak. I think people love Sanjay Dutt.” Amal Clooney also spoke at the event with a serious address about sedition and freedom of speech. The 56-year-old actor served a 42-month sentence for illegal possession arms and was released on February 25. — IANS

Maze Runner star injured on set

Dylan O'Brien was hospitalised due to an injury on the set of the third Maze Runner film on Thursday. The 24-year-old star, who was filming with the crew in British Columbia was reported to have been hurt but not seriously. The studio said the film shoot will be shut down while the actor recovers. James Dashner, the author of the Maze Runner book trilogy, posted on Twitter that O'Brien had been hurt but that his injuries were "not life-threatening in any way." — AP

Simon Pegg to star in Spielberg’s next film

Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation actor Simon Pegg is in negotiations to join the cast of Steven Spielberg's sci-fi film Ready Player One. The film follows teenager Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) who frequently escapes the real world by logging into Oasis, a virtual computer programme where users lead idyllic alternate lives. When the game's creator dies, he offers up his fortune as the prize in an elaborate treasure hunt, which Wade pursues. According to reports Pegg will play Ogden Morrow, the co-creator of the Oasis system. The cast already includes Olivia Cooke and Ben Mendelsohn. — AP

Kanye West opens pop-up shop in New York

The rapper turned fashion designer took to Twitter last week to announce he would be selling merchandise from his newest album The Life of Pablo for three days over the weekend. Although his latest fashion line consists only of clothes in earth tones, the pop-up shop contained maroon jackets, hoodies, and T-shirts and similar items in vibrant blue. Denim jackets, featuring the Life of Pablo track list or with the word Pablo printed in red on the back were also available. The clothes ranged from $35 (Dh128) to $400 (Dh1469), — The National staff.
