Indian designer Manish Malhotra will be in the UAE this weekend to celebrate his 25th anniversary in the fashion industry with a haute couture extravaganza on Thursday, followed by trunk shows on the following days.
The 49-year-old celebrity designer has a strong following in India – he has won awards for his work on several Hindi films, and is sought after by Bollywood royalty, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan.
As a tribute to Malhotra’s immense contribution to the film industry, actor Arjun Kapoor, son of producer Boney Kapoor, will walk the ramp. Other A-listers including Alia Bhatt are tipped to attend. The runway showcase, hosted by Studio 8 and Jaipur Gems, is at the Address Dubai Marina, where Malhotra will present pieces from his new collections, The Empress Story and The Gentlemen’s Club, which were unveiled at the recent Lakmé India Fashion Week and Amazon India Couture Week. The trunk shows are on Friday and Saturday (noon to 8pm) at Studio 8 on Jumeirah Beach Road, where Malhotra will meet and greet guests.
