David Hasselhoff in Abu Dhabi and Dubai this week

David Hasselhoff is back in the UAE. The Hoff, who is staying at the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island until Saturday, is scheduled to appear on Thursday, June 4, at the launch of the famed chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s restaurant at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach. Bollywood star Nargis Fakhri is also set to appear at the launch, along with a host of international supermodels.

In 2013, Hasselhoff popped up in a lifeguard's chair on Saadiyat Beach, surprising beachgoers. At the time, he was in town for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. He returned in 2014 to judge Image Nation's Short Film Competition, and this week was back in town to talk to students at Image Nation. Although the meeting was informal, the former Baywatch star talked about the realities of becoming a successful filmmaker and his forthcoming movie, Killing Hasselhoff, in which the protagonist sets out to win a celebrity deadpool by hiring a hitman to assassinate the star. The 62-year-old actor also spoke of his love for the Middle East and gamely offered to make a cameo appearance in any forthcoming films by local filmmakers.

In a video on Image Nation’s Facebook page, Hasselhoff says: “It’s great to be here. I collaborated with Michael [Image Nation chief executive Michael Garin] on Killing Hasselhoff and dreams do come true. The movie got made and I think I’m coming down here and filming more stuff.”

Could a Baywatch reboot set on Abu Dhabi's Corniche be on the cards? Watch this space.
