Dave Matthews fans drive him to his show
Dave Matthews may jet to performances around the world, but that doesn't mean his bicycle never breaks down. That's what happened before the singer's show in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, when one of his fans pulled over to give a stranded cyclist a ride and realised the hitchhiker was none other than Matthews, who didn't have a mobile phone on him. "We didn't know how to make conversation with him. He was just a very humble guy," said Emily Kraus, who was in the car with her boyfriend. Matthews invited them to dinner, took them backstage and got them front-row seats. "It was surreal. We couldn't believe it," said Kraus. - AP

He was sentenced to five years probation, community service and counselling for the 2009 assault. - Reuters

More tests needed to determine cause of Cory Monteith's death
The cause of Cory Monteith's death remained unclear on Monday, and authorities in Canada said it could take several days before toxicology test results are in. Vancouver police said there's nothing to indicate the death was due to illicit drug use. Monteith, 31, was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on Saturday, according to police, who have ruled out foul play. Video and electronic records from the hotel indicated he returned to his room by himself early Saturday. Monteith admitted himself to a treatment facility in April for substance addiction. He had recently shot a Canadian film called All the Wrong Reasons, which was scheduled to be released this fall. - AP

The pair have purchased the rights to a new book about the Boston Marathon bombings by the crime writer Casey Sherman and the journalist Dave Wedge, reported Deadline. The publication focuses on the explosions that took place on April 15 and the subsequent hunt for the siblings suspected of carrying out the attacks. With the book tipped for release next year, it is widely presumed the film adaptation, Boston Strong, will follow soon after. - The National staff

What is type-1 diabetes
Type 1 diabetes is a genetic and unavoidable condition, rather than the lifestyle-related type 2 diabetes.
It occurs mostly in people under 40 and a result of the pancreas failing to produce enough insulin to regulate blood sugars.
Too much or too little blood sugar can result in an attack where sufferers lose consciousness in serious cases.
Being overweight or obese increases the chances of developing the more common type 2 diabetes.
