A host of celebrities have lashed out over the acquittal on Saturday of George Zimmerman who was on trial in the US for shooting an unarmed teenager.
RnB starlet Beyonce was performing her Mrs Carter Show World Tour concert at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, when the news about the verdict began to circulate.
She took a moment to honour the 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, asking for a moment of silence, according to the Associated Press.
Rapper Young Jeezy posted a new song, It's a Cold World (A Tribute to Trayvon Martin), to his Facebook page in honour of the boy.
And music producer, Russell Simmons, who discovered the likes of the Beastie Boys, Run DMC and LL Cool J, also made his opinions heard.
He took to Twitter asking people to “remain peaceful. No matter what, remain peaceful”.
"If u have any anger this evening, put that energy into challenging these horrible laws that allow overly-anxious neighborhood watchmen to carry guns and shoot innocent people,” he tweeted.
