Brad Pitt denied on Tuesday that his wedding to Angelina Jolie would take place in August. "We actually really, truly have no date," said Pitt, speaking at the Cannes premiere of his new film Killing Them Softly. Asked if he planned to act again alongside Jolie, he replied: "Actually, I'd love to." The couple have three biological children and adopted three others. They announced their plan to wed last month. * AFP

West, Jay-Z and Beyoncé lead BET nominations

It's a family affair at the forthcoming BET Awards: Kanye West has the most nominations with seven, while his mentor, Jay-Z, earned five, and Jay-Z's wife, Beyoncé, received six. Jay-Z and West collaborated on the album Watch the Throne. Their songs - In Paris and Otis - are up for video of the year. Samuel L Jackson will host the July 1 awards show, where Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj will perform. Other multiple nominees include Brown, Lil Wayne and Drake. * AP

Native American tribe adopts Johnny Depp as a member

Johnny Depp has been made an honorary member of the Comanche tribe in New Mexico, where he is shooting the film adaptation of The Lone Ranger. The Comanche Nation tribal member LaDonna Harris said on Tuesday that the adoption tradition means she now considers Depp her son. Depp has been the topic of much discussion in the Native American community and online since he was cast as Tonto, with comments on his costume, the selection of a non-Native for the part, and how the role itself has historically epitomised Hollywood's misrepresentation of Native culture. * AP

Octogenarian Japanese actor comes to Cannes on first trip abroad

When Tadashi Okuno got a part in the Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami's new film, the 82-year-old had never set foot outside of Japan. This week he walked the red carpet at Cannes. "As soon as shooting began, Abbas said to me: 'We'll go to Cannes together, you'll see.' And I said: 'No, I don't like travelling abroad,'" he recalled. Okuno plays a retired university teacher in Like Someone in Love, vying for the Palme d'Or. He auditioned for the film hoping to get a small role, like the minor parts he has played on television. Okuno admitted he was "moved" to be in Cannes, where for the first time he is doing back-to-back interviews and facing the barrage of cameras: "I am pretty impressed. And very happy." * AFP

Lady Gaga stars on The Simpsons

Lady Gaga says acting makes her more nervous than performing on her sell-out world tours, after getting the cartoon treatment on The Simpsons on Sunday. "I hope you like my voice-acting debut! I was more nervous than I have ever been because I am such a fan of the show," tweeted the singer, who performed a song, You're All My Little Monsters, to the citizens of Springfield, in the show's season finale.
