A new Arabic coffee table book, Jewels Of Arabia, charts the evolution of jewellery in the Middle East and the other cultures that influenced it. Some of us can only dream of possessing the treasures that are featured in the 450-page book Jewels Of Arabia, which was launched last week in Dubai at Boutique 1. The ceremony was attended by Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qassimi, who also wrote the foreword. Many of the 700 images are rare and archival, illustrating Ottoman, Persian, Indian, Arab and Bedouin styles, with jewellery worn by royalty and first ladies from the Middle East. Here is a small sample. Jewels Of Arabia, Dh350, published by J2 Holdings, is available at Boutique 1, 04 448 3400, www.boutique1.com. A portion of the sales will go to the Smiling Children's Foundation, a Swiss-based charity.
