Community theatre group Backstage are launching a new season with a brave collection of thematically linked short plays.
Published by American playwright Mark Dunn last year, 7 Interviews is a stripped-back set of seven short pieces. Each chapter presents a situational interview, which aims to illuminate some aspect of the human condition, from comic to tragic.
The play is written for just three actors, one desk, and three chairs. Among the encounters are a job interview, a biographer and subject, a psychiatrist and patient, and a parent-teacher meeting.
“Unlike most plays, this particular one focused on darkness and mystery, bringing about an immense scope for great acting,” said Interview 6 director Jaidev Sanket.
Catch the production at Dubai’s Ductac, in Mall of the Emirates, Thursday-Saturday (October 22-24) at 7.30pm, plus a 2.30pm matinée on Saturday (October 24).
• For reservations, call the box office on 04-3414777. Backstage's 2014/15 season climaxes with a sold out production of The Mousetrap in May
