Alia Bhatt may not be the smartest kid on the block, but no one can accuse her of being a poor sport. After the Koffee with Karan debacle, when during the GK round she called out Prithviraj Chauhan [a king from the late 12th century] as the president of India. Her answer led to a lot of ridicule and a spawned hundreds of "Alia Bhatt is so dumb..." memes.
As a retort to all the Alia Bhatt jokes, the actress recently collaborated with a group of popular standup comics who call themselves All India Bakchods. The video, titled Genius of the Year (a take on her first film, Student of the year), has over two million views of Bhatt taking digs at herself. Shot in a documentary format, the actress is seen wiping her tears with a credit card and lamenting over the fact that instead of looking for her "hot pics", people seem to be searching for jokes based on her.
The 10-minute video also stars her father, famous director Mahesh Bhatt, 2 States co-star and friend Arjun Kapoor, director Karan Johar and apparent nemesis Parineeti Chopra. Along with taking digs at themselves, they cheer on Bhatt as she signs up for a "brain enlargement programme" at the "dumb belle gym", where she is given lessons in science, sports, economics, politics and general knowledge to the lyrics of songs from her films.
Intelligently written and very well-executed, the video is entertaining and makes the young star even more endearing for being able to take all the jokes minus the drama.
