Invited to watch an IPL match but don’t have a clue as to what it’s all about? Catch the premiere of Nat Geo Inside IPL on Sunday, April 6, before the international cricket extravaganza begins on April 16 in Abu Dhabi.

The Indian Premier League comprises the best cricketers from all over the world (sold at auction for millions of dollars), and playing in the quick and dirty 20/20 format for this eight-team, India-based league. The first phase is being hosted by the UAE, with matches being played out in the capital, Dubai and Sharjah, before the competition moves to India and Bangladesh.

Audiences will get a sneak peek into the machinery of the two-month long tournament, which commands 250 million viewers across 160 countries. The documentary will feature interviews with leading cricketers and experts from around the world, as well as IPL management and celebrity team owners – and there are quite a few, mostly from Bollywood: Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Shilpa Shetty, Preity Zinta.

And they have plenty to talk about: the scale of the stadiums, the precision of the broadcast team, the relationships between team management and captains.

Nat Geo Inside IPL will be broadcast on Nat Geo HD at 6pm in the UAE; the channel is available on all pay-TV networks in the region including OSN, ADTV Network, eLife & du.

Real estate tokenisation project

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
