UK stand-up star Jason Manford is coming back to in Dubai.

The popular TV personality will perform a special one-off gig for The Laughter Factory, on Thursday August 25, at the Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach in JBR.

A star of numerous TV shows, including 8 Out of 10 Cats, The One Show and A Question of Sport, Manford is ranked among Britain's best known and most loved comedians.

He will return just over two years since a pair of celebratory gigs marking The Laughter Factory’s 18th year – where he received a double standing ovation.

The Mancunian comic will arrive in Dubai midway through his hit UK tour The Best of Jason Manford to perform a full 80-minute set of stand-up.

Gail Clough, co-founder of The Laughter Factory, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled we’ve been able to bag Jason Manford for a second time – he told me he had such good fun on his last visit he can’t wait to come back.

“Jason absolutely smashed it in Dubai two years ago – it’s the first time I’ve seen a comedian get two standing ovations in two decades of comedy.”

Comedy fans needs not worry – The Laughter Factory will continue to host its regular trademark monthly three-act tours. For details of the August tour, running August 11-18 across Dubai and Doha, head to thelaughterfactory.com now. September will be announced shortly.

Manford’s start in comedy came at the age of 17, when he was working as a glass collector at a comedy club – a headliner failed to turn up, so he bravely offered to take the mic.

Six gigs later, in 1999 Jason Manford was crowned The City Life North West Comedian of the Year, while his 2005 Edinburgh Fringe show Urban Legends was nominated for the career-defining Perrier Award.

In 2007 he broke into telly, beginning a five-year stretch as a team leader on influential comedy panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats.

Manford was later invited to present Comedy Rocks, Tonightlly, and the BBC's primetime flagship The One Show. He also starred alongside Peter Andre in game show the Odd One In.

Manford has released three live DVDs – Live at the Manchester Apollo (2009), Live 2011 and First World Problems (2014) – while the ultimate sign of celebrity came in 2012, with the release of autobiography book, Brung Up Proper.

Earlier this year the stand-up star launched his own weekly Jason Manford Show on Absolute Radio, tackling current affairs on the airwaves.

Jason Manford will perform at the Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach, JBR, Dubai, on Thursday August 25, doors 7.30pm, show 9pm. Regular tickets are priced Dh195 and premium Dh295 – see thelaughterfactory.com.
