UAE Bieber fans snap up tickets
Bieber fever has officially hit the UAE. Fan-pit tickets for the Canadian pop-star's May 4 concert at Dubai's 7he Sevens Stadium have sold out on pre-sale alone. More than 15,000 people registered for pre-sale tickets at www.justinbieberdubai.com and fan-pit tickets were snapped up before going on public sale yesterday at 9am. Thomas Ovesen, the Done Events chief executive, says more than half of all the tickets have been sold, and is urging fans to get the rest quickly. Sharon Stone faints at Milan fashion show
Sharon Stone was rushed to hospital on Saturday after fainting at a Fendi fashion show in Milan. The 54-year-old actress was in town for a benefit for the Aids research foundation, Amfar. "Sharon Stone experienced migraine-related symptoms. She was examined and given a clean bill of health," a representative from Amfar told reporters. Stone was at the event with her 27-year-old Argentine boyfriend, Martin Mica. * IANS
Pop duo LMFAO split up
The American electropop duo LMFAO – Redfoo and SkyBlue – have announced they are breaking up to pursue individual interests. "We're headed in different directions. I feel like we've been doing this for so long - five or six years," Redfoo said in a statement. "We want to do what's natural and just kind of explore that instead of forcing it all the time." The uncle-and-nephew team first began performing together in 2006. They released their debut album, Party Rock, in 2009, which scored a Grammy nomination. * IANS
Law keen on third Sherlock Holmes
Jude Law says he's keen on doing a third instalment of the Sherlock Holmes franchise, where he has played the role of Dr John Watson. "I don't know when we're going to start shooting. I mean, there's certainly talk of it and I know there's a script being played around with, but [Robert] Downey's a busy boy and I'm a busy boy, so we'll see," Law told the film news site, Collider. "But we want to do another one. We're a very happy team and we also think there's still a lot of legs in the duo." * IANS
Affleck, Damon producing new film
The Good Will Hunting duo, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, are producing a new movie starring Affleck's brother, Casey. Directed by Peter Glanz, Race to the South Pole chronicles the real-life tale of two competitive explorers in the early 1900s. Affleck recently premiered Argo, a thriller he directed, starred in and produced, while Damon has just wrapped up shooting for Promised Land, a Gus Van Sant-drama that he co-wrote, stars in and is producing. The film will be released in December.
