Rapper Travis Scott to perform at Abu Dhabi F1 After Race Concerts

The star rapper will arrive at Yas Island’s Du Arena at the peak of his powers

Travis Scott is the first music act to perform as part of this year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The US rapper will take the Du Arena Stage on Friday night, November 29 for what will be the second of four after race concerts.

The National predicted the return of Scott after Yas Marina Circuit dropped a few clues on their social media channels on May 15.

How we solved the puzzle

The first was the surrealist colour scheme of the post, which we stated was in line with the cover art of Scott's latest album Astroworld.

The second clue was the image of a flame, which corresponds to one of his hits LA Flame.

The follow up picture of the eagle alluded to the fact that he once performed on top of giant eagle in previous shows, while the cactus image was linked to last year's collaboration with Nike for the limited edition Air Jordan 1 "Cactus Jack" sneakers.

Scott’s addition to the Abu Dhabi F1 party continues the event’s strong tradition of luring super-star rappers to the capital. Previous years had Eminem, Jay Z, J Cole and Post Malone all performing to thousands of enthusiastic fans at Yas Island.

An explosive performer

Scott is no stranger to the capital and the Abu Dhabi F1. His upcoming show will mark his second appearance as part of the event, having headlined Beats on The Beach in 2016.

As The National reported, Scott took no prisoners at the Abu Dhabi Corniche festival with an explosive set that saw the front of the stage turn into full throttled mosh pit. For some fans, the intensity proved too much. Scott had to stop the show midway to allow an exhausted audience member to be removed from the front of stage. Scott was far from impressed: "This is a Travis Scott show," he said. "If you can't handle that, you better leave because we all came here to party, right?"

At the peak of his powers

That Abu Dhabi performance came during the career phase where Scott was touted hip-hop's next big thing. Scott went on to fulfil that performance with his third album, Astroworld going on to become one of the biggest rap releases of last year with hits including Sicko Mode and Mile High.

Scott will hit the capital as part of his extensive world tour that saw him perform as part of the NFL Super Bowl Half Time Show in February in addition to making his Africa stage debut with an upcoming concert as part of June’s Mawazine festival in the Moroccan capital Rabat.

The 28-year-old is also the partner of the Kylie Jenner, the world’s youngest self-made billionaire, and the pair have one-year-old daughter Stormi Webster.

This year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend takes place between November 29 and December 1. Last year’s after race concert headliners included Post Malone, The Weeknd, Sam Smith and Guns N’ Roses.

To attend the four Yasalam After-Race Concert performances it is necessary to purchase a ticket for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
