Lebanese composer Marcel Khalife and Algerian singer Souad Massi will perform at Al Majaz Amphitheatre in Sharjah on Friday, March 13. Both musicians are known for their live performances and culturally-informed music . The tunes of Khalife's oud and Maasi's acoustic guitar are set to meet in concert as part of a season of events titled #letsmajaz.
Dubbed "the Bob Dylan of the Middle East", Khalife’s music powerfully and poetically encompasses everything from protest songs to political ballads. His unifying songs have become embedded in Arab musical heritage, revolving around the ongoing question of freedom. Over the course of five decades, the acclaimed singer, composer and revered oud player has reshaped Arabic music to be a universally communicative form of expression.
While Khalife is returning to the venue for the second time, this will be Massi's debut. The singer-songwriter is known for her emotive mix of Arabic, French and Berber folk songs. Her music is centred on themes of hope and positivity, anchored in current events, love for Algeria and freedom.
Al Majaz Amphitheatre has become a popular destination for cultural events and concerts in the UAE, hosting internationally acclaimed artists from across the Middle East and beyond. Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi recently performed while former Arab Idol Mohammad Assaf and Omar Abdallat are set to perform on Friday, January 24
Tickets are available online at platinumlist, and at the box office, starting from Dh80. Doors for the concert will open at 7:30pm with performers set to take the stage at 9pm.
