Justin Timberlake to play UAE?

The rumour mill is on overdrive today after a mysterious animated video began circulating online this morning hinting at an imminent concert announcement. The video features a paper unwrapping before a hand appears to write #JTUAE over a silhouette resembling the 32-year-old pop star.

The video ends with the date “09.01.2014” emblazoned over a black background. The video description says “Some exciting news coming 9th January. Stay tuned!”

Timberlake is currently on break from his 20/20 Experience World Tour which will resume on January 14 with Canadian and North American dates. The tour continues throughout Europe and returning for a further North American leg before concluding on August 11 in San Jose.

If Timberlake indeed returns to the UAE the show would ideally be slotted in the available March 6 -30 window, which is the present break between the North American leg and European concert dates.

Timberlake’s latest tour has been praised by critics for its 30-plus song set list and the singer’s stylish performance.

"Timberlake exuded a sweatless charm," remarked New York Daily News' Jim Farber while Hillary Rea from The Philadelphia Inquirer hailed his performance as "a spectacle" and praised his versatility and focus.

Timberlake’s last UAE performance was in the capital back in 2007 having played a sparkling set at Emirates Palace.

Flash Entertainment, promoters of that concert, did not respond to enquires regarding the teaser video.

No matter, because it might only be two days to go before the big reveal.
