Iraqi singer Kadim Al Sahir celebrates his son’s wedding in Morocco

The super-star was a proud dad as his youngest son tied in the knot in a lavish wedding

It has been a momentous weekend for Kadim Al Sahir. The Iraqi super-star was in Morocco to celebrate the wedding of his son Omar Al Sahir in the capital, Rabat. He married Moroccan doctor, Noura al-Dakhsh

The Friday, August 30 ceremony came following the couple's official engagement announcement in March. Omar Al Sahir, 32, is the youngest of the singer's two sons.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, despite his popular standing in the Arabic entertainment industry, the low-key Al Sahir senior kept the guest list relatively celebrity free. Guests of note included Moroccan singers Younis Al Rabat, Asma Al Munawar, Tarik Bardad and members of the now defunct Arab boy band The5.

Despite Al Sahir’s insistence that guests refrain from uploading videos and snaps from the wedding, a few posts eventually made their way to social media.

They included a video of the bride entering the wedding hall in traditional fashion, to the sound of wedding chants. She arrived on top of marriage bed carried on the shoulders of men.

The lavish ceremony mixed plenty of Moroccan and modern elements.

In parts of the ceremony, the bride wore a traditional kaftan with a design linked to the Amazigh region of the kingdom. Meanwhile, the groom kept it classic in an elegant suit.

With so much musical talent in the room, it was unsurprising that the proud father of the groom sang a few of his popular ballads on the dance floor.

Al Sahir's singalong was followed up by an impromptu performance by Al Munawar, who sang a Moroccan folk song.

The wedding was a perfect ending for what has been a busy summer for Al Sahir, which has included a string of performances across the Arab world including in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Oman.

With Al Sahir recently pulling out of the judging panel of the next season of The Voice Kids, it will be interesting to see what his next move will be.
