A Dubai group promises a sensory treat when they support the goth-rockers Evanescence tomorrow.

Empty Yard Experiment, also known as EYE, will bring complex song structures and stunning backdrops when they take to the stage at Dubai's World Trade Centre.

One of the band members is in charge of "visuals", a role requiring the creation of images and animation specific for each song. "We pride ourselves in creating a very engaging show," the singer and rhythm guitarist Bojan Preradovic says. "The visuals are a way of keeping the audience on their toes and eliciting an emotional response on the biggest possible level."

The band also have the songs to match the visual drama. Their debut album last year exhibited multiple influences, from progressive to post rock. However, Preradovic says new songs will point to a new direction for the band.

"I think right now we are in the process of cementing our own sound and finding the perfect balance of influences from each individual band member," he says.

Formed in 2006, the group built a strong UAE following with regular performances in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This year, they intend to step it up a notch, with a new album on the way and a show in the Netherlands lined up for September.

Preradovic says live on stage is where the band net most of their fans, and hopes tomorrow's performance will prove no different. "It's an opportunity for us to market our band to a wider audience and connect to a bigger crowd," he says. "But at the same time we have a pretty solid fan base and lot of people will be at the concert to see us play as well. It's a pretty nice mix."
