Did Rihanna just confirm her split from Saudi Arabian businessman Hassan Jameel?

The singer also revealed she would happily become a single mother in a new interview with 'British Vogue'

Rihanna and Hassan Jameel's split was first touted back in January, but the star has just spoken out about her love life for the first time since then.

The Bajan singer, actress and entrepreneur appeared to confirm she had separated from the Saudi Arabian businessman in a new interview with British Vogue, as part of her April cover shoot.

Journalist Afua Hirsch conclusively stated the two had parted ways after a three-year relationship in the article, while Rihanna revealed she felt she had just entered a new chapter in her life.

“Since I turned 32, I’m realising life is really short,” she says. “You put so much on your plate. When you’re overwhelmed, you need to start cutting things out. And I’m overwhelmed too much. What’s happening now is that I’m going back to black and white. My grey area is shutting down.”

The Fenty Beauty founder and Jameel were first linked in 2016, and pictured together numerous times in the following years, though neither ever publicly spoke about their relationship.

Jameel, 31, is the deputy president and vice chairman of family-run business Abdul Latif Jameel, which owns the exclusive distribution rights to Toyota in Saudi Arabia. The family also owns the Saudi premier football league, and is said to be worth an estimated $1.5 billion (Dh5.5 billion).

In 2019, Rihanna confirmed she was in a relationship, telling actress Sarah Paulson in an article for Interview magazine that she was "in love".

Though the pair have seemingly parted ways, in the interview for British Vogue, released online yesterday, the star said she hoped to start a family in the near future.

“I know I will want to live differently,” she said, revealing that in 10 years she'll "have kids – three or four of ’em".

When asked if she would raise a family on her own, Rihanna added: "[Society] diminishes you as a mother if there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives. But the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.”

The businesswoman, who has made history by becoming the first woman to wear a durag on the cover of British Vogue, also confirmed she is actively working on her ninth studio album, though was reticent to give a release date.

“I can’t say when I’m going to drop,” she said. “But I am very aggressively working on music."
