South Korean 'Encounter' actor Park Bo-gum's to perform military service this year
The actor and singer is enlisting in the navy
Popular South Korean actor and singer Park Bo-gum's military service has been confirmed by his agents.
The Love in the Moonlight actor is to enlist in the country's navy from Monday, August 31. The 27-year-old is expected to join the military band.
In South Korea, conscription requires all able men between 18 and 28 to perform compulsory military service. Women are not required to join, but may elect to serve.
Park's talent agency Blossom Entertainment announced that he would be enlisting on Thursday, June 25, saying: "Actor Park Bo-gum was accepted as a cultural promotion soldier of the navy, and he will be enlisting on August 31, 2020."
The company confirmed that he would finish filming upcoming projects Wonderland and Record of Youth before to his enlistment.
They added: "We ask for your support so actor Park Bo-gum can fulfil his military duty in good health."
According to South Korea's Military Manpower Administration (MMA) website, the service period last 20 months, including five weeks of military training. His discharge date is expected to be April 2022.
