With more people staying at home than ever before, Disney is pulling out all the stops to keep people entertained.
And that now includes moving the release of Hamilton forward a whole year.
A big-screen version of the rap-infused Broadway-hit by Lin-Manuel Miranda was officially slated to come to movie theatres in 2021.

However, according to new social media posts by both Disney and Miranda, it will now be launching on Friday, July 3 – less than two months from now.
The new release will be a recording of a live performance of a show at New York's Richard Rodgers Theatre.

Hamilton is one of the highest-grossing Broadway musicals of all time, smashing records since its 2015 debut. It tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of the United States, in a musical rap style.
Following its critical acclaim and commercial success, Disney reportedly paid $75 million (Dh275.4m) for the Hamilton recording.
Considering its performances often sell out weeks in advance, this will provide millions around the world with easy access to the show.
Another one of Miranda's musicals, In the Heights, has been adapted into a film and was due to premiere in June. However, with theatres around the world closed due to the pandemic, it is now scheduled to be released in cinemas next year.
And while Disney+ isn't yet available in the UAE, due to a tie-up with OSN, a selection of its content can be streamed here. Many of Disney+'s television shows and movies are now available on OSN Streaming with a Dh35 subscription.
