The Academy Awards weren't the only trophy-giving ceremony held in Hollywood this month.
On Monday night, stars of the screen gathered at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to attend the fourth annual American Black Film Festival Honours.
The awards are "dedicated to recognising black talent and showcasing quality film and television content by and about people of African descent".
On the night, Ray actor Jamie Foxx was presented with the Excellence in the Arts Award, which was handed over by his Django Unchained co-star Leonardo DiCaprio in a surprise move.
"I was sitting back thinking about what I was going to say about Jamie tonight and it's a characteristic I was able to experience firsthand on the set of Django Unchained," DiCaprio told the crowd, according to Deadline. "Jamie brings out the very best in other people. He lifts up everyone around. You can see any social setting he's in. He's like a magnetic force in any room that he inhabits, and there is no one in this industry who pays positivity and encouragement forward the way Jamie Foxx does."
