The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will be open to fully vaccinated visitors.
Running from May 23 to 29 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec), the event has released a video on its social media channels outlining the safety measures in place.
These measures include requiring all visitors to be fully vaccinated, as well as no entry to those under 17 years of age.
The fair's resumption heralds the revival of the UAE capital's conference and events sector. It comes after the International Defence Exhibition and Conference in February, also held at Adnec, which marked the first major in-person exhibition held in Abu Dhabi since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Similar to that event, the book fair will run with a number of strict safety precautions.
Here is what you need to know before going to the fair.
1. Be fully vaccinated and have a negative PCR test result
All visitors to the book fair need to be fully vaccinated and require to present a negative PCR test result.
Both information will have to be shown on the Al Hosn app on arrival. Those under the age of 17 are not allowed to attend.
2. Pre-registration is required
Study the programme guide, available on the fair's website and app, because the time allowed at the fair is limited. Prior online registration is required, with a maximum of three hours per session.
Coloured bracelets are provided upon entry to enable officials to determine when each session has concluded.
Booking your session is easy: click the ticket tab of the website or app and fill in the required details, including name, email and contact number, and the preferred session.
An electronic ticket will then be issued to be scanned at the fair.
3. Wear your face mask
As well as the venue going through extensive daily sanitisation processes, all visitors and exhibitors will be required to wear a face mask at all times and maintain social distancing of two metres.
4. Different entry and exit points
Adnec is a large and sprawling venue at the best of times, and with the book fair using separate entry and exit points, be prepared for that extra stroll to the car park and taxi stations.
Body temperatures will also be checked on arrival and entry will be temporarily suspended when the fair reaches its allotted capacity.

No more lice
Defining head lice
Pediculus humanus capitis are tiny wingless insects that feed on blood from the human scalp. The adult head louse is up to 3mm long, has six legs, and is tan to greyish-white in colour. The female lives up to four weeks and, once mature, can lay up to 10 eggs per day. These tiny nits firmly attach to the base of the hair shaft, get incubated by body heat and hatch in eight days or so.
Identifying lice
Lice can be identified by itching or a tickling sensation of something moving within the hair. One can confirm that a person has lice by looking closely through the hair and scalp for nits, nymphs or lice. Head lice are most frequently located behind the ears and near the neckline.
Treating lice at home
Head lice must be treated as soon as they are spotted. Start by checking everyone in the family for them, then follow these steps. Remove and wash all clothing and bedding with hot water. Apply medicine according to the label instructions. If some live lice are still found eight to 12 hours after treatment, but are moving more slowly than before, do not re-treat. Comb dead and remaining live lice out of the hair using a fine-toothed comb.
After the initial treatment, check for, comb and remove nits and lice from hair every two to three days. Soak combs and brushes in hot water for 10 minutes.Vacuum the floor and furniture, particularly where the infested person sat or lay.
