To celebrate the start of the cherry blossom season in Japan, Sushi Central's Mina branch in Abu Dhabi is having an art exhibition titled Spring - a Shift in Art. Participants responded to an open call and the four artists chosen are Nour Bensbaa, Claude Habib and two of her art students- Nadia Chigara and Dana Al Masoud.

The exhibition, on Tuesday, also coincides with International Women’s Day. Ons S.A. Mebarek, the managing director of Sushi Central says: “It is important for Sushi Central to be involved in the community by encouraging cultural activities that encompass the emirates’ interests. Women should be given opportunity to realise their potential and as a small business, we see this exhibition as a step in taking a small part in a wider local agenda and further, a global initiative towards gender parity.”

The art work is a mix of styles and media but they all respond to the theme of the Japanese cherry blossoms.

* Spring - a Shift in Art runs until the April 8. Regular restaurant opening times every day are 11:00am- 11:30pm, Fridays 12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight. www.sushicentral.ae
