The first photographic exhibition to be held in the Arab world, focused on Muslims living in China, will take place at Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation from tomorrow, Thursda, March 16 until June 11.
Entitled Moments in the Lives of Muslims in China – Through the Lens of Peter Sanders, the show is a comprehensive photo essay that provides an insight into the daily life of Muslim communities in China, of which little is known.
The selection of 50 large-scale images are the work of Peter Sanders, a pre-eminent photographer of the Muslim world. The Brit began his career in the 1960s as one of London’s leading rock and roll photographers. His images of Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones, among others, are today considered classics of the period.
Having switched focus from music, Sanders has for nearly half a decade captured more than half a million images of Islamic nations and rich traditional civilisations.
