Beginning with a comparison between a skilfully decorated Egyptian mummy case and a colourful set of modern Ghanaian coffin models, this lecture will explore funerary art from Africa and beyond.

It will also pay attention to the many of cultures who believe in some form of life after death and have creating objects to accompany the dead on their journey into the afterlife.

Allen is extremely informed about all the objects in the exhibition and it is bound to be a lively discussion.
