The ninth edition of the Dubai International Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition is open. The works of over 50 international calligraphy artists is on show in Wafi Mall until the end of the month. The pieces are broken down into sections for classic‚ modern‚ and illuminated calligraphy and are complimented by the collection of Mohammed Al Murr, to show the breadth of the genre.

Organised by Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the exhibition is accompanied by a series of 24 workshops and lectures for all ages, where visitors can learn first-hand about both classic and modern calligraphy techniques.

One of the main highlights will be a panel discussion between prominent collector Mohammed Al Murr and the reputed calligrapher Mohammed Ozcay focusing on application of calligraphy in public spaces.

There is also a children’s area at the exhibition, which includes a reading corner with bilingual books and workshops in subjects such as Islamic Tiles and Positive & Negative Designs.

* The Dubai International Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition will run until April 30 at Wafi Mall.
