Art meets football
As the English Premiership was coming to a dramatic close last night, a team of artists in Al Quoz were busy unveiling two football-themed pieces of art commissioned by Pepsi Middle East.
The murals, depicting Leo Messi, a Barcelona player and Sergio Ramos who is a defender for Real Madrid were painted by the Brown Monkeys art collective from Dubai and were revealed at A4 community space in Alserkal Avenue.
Carla Hassan, Chief Marketing Officer, PepsiCo Middle East & Africa explains:
“Last night’s event was part of PepsiCo’s 2014 football campaign, The Art of Football, which aims to unite photography, street art and football. As part of the global campaign, PepsiCo teamed up with world-renowned photographer Danny Clinch and some of the globe’s best footballers, including Leo Messi and Robin van Persie, to present a truly bespoke art collection. Clinch’s images were then enhanced by six international street artists, giving the photography an unbridled creative edge, urban rawness, bold color and sense of movement.
“The Dubai event offered a Middle Eastern twist to the campaign, during which Pepsi teamed up with the award-winning Brown Monkeys art collective who created their own spectacular murals of Leo Messi and Sergio Ramos. PepsiCo is thrilled to be able to offer our consumers in the region a local sense of the Art of Football as well as support regional talent. The event was well received by the creative community and we look forward to engaging with our consumers through similar events in the future.”
